O papel do tradutor-intérprete de inglês em eventos

Abstract

Considerando o crescimento da demanda de eventos, o mercado fica cada vez mais competitivo; assim, planejar e executar com excelência torna-se algo imperativo. Igualmente importante é a contratação de profissionais qualificados, dentre eles, o tradutor-intérprete de língua inglesa, o qual tem seu papel discutido neste artigo que pretendeu-se investigar as percepções de 17 jovens universitários acerca da relevância do tradutor-intérprete para a eficácia da comunicação em eventos de grande porte, como premiações e shows internacionais. Os dados coletados por meio de questionário permitiram uma análise qualitativa de suas percepções sobre o tema. Nessa breve reflexão, concluiu-se que além de mediar a comunicação esse profissional torna os eventos acessíveis à grande parcela da população brasileira que não é fluente em inglês.Considering the growing demand for events, the market is becoming increasingly competitive; thus, planning and executing with excellence becomes imperative. Equally important is the hiring of qualified professionals, among them, the English language translator-interpreter, whose role is discussed in this article which aimed to investigate the perceptions of 17 young university students regarding the relevance of the translator-interpreter for effective communication in large-scale events, such as awards and international shows. The data collected through a questionnaire allowed for a qualitative analysis of their perceptions on the topic. In this brief reflection, it was concluded that in addition to mediating communication, this professional makes events accessible to a large portion of the Brazilian population that is not fluent in English.
