Percepção da população de Caraguatatuba em relação às serpentes da mata atlântica

Abstract

As serpentes desde os primórdios são associadas às crenças, lendas e mitos. Muitas pessoas são a favor da morte de serpentes, independentemente de serem peçonhentas ou não, pois elas são consideradas pela maioria da população como seres ameaçadores por conta da aversão sentida por elas. Além disso, esses animais também são conhecidos pelos acidentes causados por algumas espécies, do que por qualquer outro motivo. Elas, assim como todas as espécies do planeta terra, têm um papel importante tanto para a cadeia alimentar, quanto para questões sociais. A sensibilização é um caminho para minimizar a quantidade de serpentes que estão sendo mortas por motivos fúteis. De acordo com as respostas obtidas, a maioria demonstrou estar ciente da importância das serpentes e considera relevante abordar esse assunto com a população. Entretanto, não se pode desconsiderar indivíduos que mesmo com toda intervenção ainda vão manter hábitos que prejudiquem a existência dessas espécies.Since ancient times, snakes have been associated with beliefs, legends and myths (VASCONCELOS-NETO et al., 2018). Many people are in favor of killing snakes, regardless of whether they are venomous or not, as they are considered by the majority of the population as threatening beings due to the aversion felt towards them (MENDONÇA et al., 2011). Furthermore, these animals are also known for the accidents caused by some species than for any other reason. They, like all species on planet Earth, have an important role in both the food chain and social issues. Raising awareness is a way to minimize the number of snakes that are being killed for futile reasons. According to the responses obtained, the majority demonstrated that they were aware of the importance of snakes and considered it important to address this issue with the population. However, we cannot disregard individuals who, even with all intervention, will still maintain habits that harm the existence of these species.
