Companies face a major problem, which is finding the ideal employee, one who brings profitability and growth to the company, has balanced technical and socio-emotional competence, perfect for any position. But this utopia is far from the reality of corporations. The difficulty in finding and maintaining a dream employee is visible in companies, keeping them is an even greater challenge. This study aims to identify the most important technical and socio-emotional qualities of a good professional, according to the vision of the company, its managers, workers and human resources. For this, a semi-structured qualitative field interview was conducted with a pre-defined script with questions directed to managers and human resources, relevant to the subject addressed in this work. All data collected were transcribed according to the individual response of each interviewee. Through this analysis it can be clearly observed that the balance between skills are important, profitable and cause fewer problems in companies, but we cannot fail to mention that they are individual characteristics of each human being. Technical competence is easily learned and is not lost, while socio-emotional competence is a unique, individual and intimate learning, acquired throughout life and rooted, are difficult to change.
