A utilização de polímeros na indústria automobilística

Abstract

RESUMO Esse trabalho trata da utilização de polímeros na indústria automobilística, especificamente as aplicações em veículos de passeio, mostrando a evolução do uso desse material e as tendências futuras; sendo a problemática: “Quais são as razões que levam ao crescimento do uso dos polímeros na indústria automobilística?’’. Objetiva-se identificar as razões que levam ao crescimento da substituição de outros materiais por polímeros na indústria automobilística e compreender como a necessidade do aumento da eficiência de um veículo influencia o desenvolvimento de novos materiais poliméricos. São apresentados os tipos de polímeros aplicados à indústria automobilística, dentre eles os termoplásticos, termorrígidos e plásticos de engenharia; além dos impactos ambientais atrelados ao desenvolvimento veicular e consequente aumento da quantidade de polímeros nestes veículos. Ao término da pesquisa, concluiu-se que o crescimento do uso de polímeros se dá pela vasta variedade de características e propriedades oferecidas, além da redução de massa e consequentemente de emissões de poluentes. ABSTRACT This work has as main theme the use of polymers in the automobile industry, specifically as applications in passenger vehicles, showing the evolution of the use of this material and future trends; the problem being: “what are the reasons that lead to the growth of the use of polymers in the automobile industry?”. The general objective of this research is: “to identify the reasons that lead to the growth of the substitution of other materials for the polymer in the automobile industry”. The specific objectives are: to understand how the need to increase the efficiency of a vehicle influences the development of new polymeric materials; conceptualize the types of polymers to the automobile industry, including thermoplastics, thermosets and engineering plastics; understand the environmental impacts linked to vehicular development. At the end of the research, it was concluded that the growth in the use of polymers is due to the wide variety of characteristics and properties offered, in addition to the reduction in mass and consequently in pollutant emissions.
