faturamento do setor.
A cultura
The COVID-19 pandemic deeply affected the fitness sector, leading to the temporary closure of gyms and a significant decline in the industry’s revenue. Despite this adverse scenario, the Evoque gym network experienced continuous growth during and after the pandemic period. This study investigates how crisis management, combined with strategic management practices, a solid organizational culture, and innovation, enabled this expansion. The theoretical framework addresses concepts of management, decision- making models, crisis management (Mitroff; Coombs), strategic management (Chiavenato; Maximiano), organizational culture, and theories related to business expansion. The methodology is based on an exploratory and explanatory interview with Evoque’s Executive Head and Partner, Janaína Hasi, who provided information on the practices adopted before, during, and after the health crisis. The results show that Evoque prioritized human-centered actions, transparent communication with employees and clients, renegotiation of fixed costs, preservation of internal culture, continuous investment in training, and rapid adaptation to digital solutions. Strategies such as live training sessions, online services, and infoproducts helped maintain relationships and revenue. The organizational culture focused on values, character, engagement, and professional development was essential for sustaining the team and maintaining low turnover. With the gradual return of in-person activities, the company expanded its number of units, attracted investors, and consolidated a hybrid management model that remains in place today. Thus, the study demonstrates that the combination of humanized management, quick decision- making, innovation, and a strong culture enabled Evoque to transform the crisis into growth opportunities—reinforcing the importance of strategic management in uncertain scenarios.
