A XML é uma nova promessa de padronização da Internet. Subconjunto da SGML, desenvolvida pelo W3C, permite a criação de linguagens específicas para a publicação de conteúdo na rede mundial. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever os aspectos básicos da linguagem XML, suas partes, principais características e aplicações na WWW.
The XML is a new promise for Internet standardization. As a subgroup of the SGML, the XML was developed by W3C, and it allows the creation of specific languages for the publication of information in the world-wide network. The research objective is describeing the basic aspects of XML language, its components, the main features and its applications in the WWW.
