Resumo
Neste trabalho realizou-se uma análise da resistência ao impacto de um aço SAE 4340 submetido ao tratamento térmico de têmpera e revenimento com modificação do tamanho de grão austenítico. Para caracterização das propriedades mecânicas foram realizados ensaios de dureza na escala Rockwell C e ensaio de Charpy à temperatura ambiente. A caracterização microestrutural foi realizada com preparação metalográfica padrão e ataques químicos com reagentes Nital 2% e reagente para revelação do contorno de grão austenítico, e subsequente medição do tamanho de grão austenítico. Por fim, os resultados obtidos foram comparados e relacionados com as características microestruturais do material.
In this work it was made an analysis of impact resistance of SAE 4340 steel which was subjected to a heat treatment of Quenching Oil and Tempering with austenitic grain size modification. To characterize the mechanical properties, were performed hardness tests on Rockwell C scale and Charpy test at room temperature. The microstructural characterization was performed with standard metallographic preparation, the reagent Nital 2% was used in order to reveal the quenched microstructure and an etching was used to delineate the austenitic grains boundaries, and subsequent measurement of the austenitic grain size. Finally, the results obtained were compared and related to the material microstructural characteristics.
