Resumo
A cultura da cana-de-açúcar tem grande importância econômica e energética
para o Brasil, sendo constantemente afetada por pragas e doenças que
comprometem sua produtividade e qualidade. Este trabalho aborda as principais
pragas que afetam a lavoura canavieira, como broca-da-cana, cigarrinha-da-raiz,
broca-gigante, bicudo, broca de rizomas, formigas cortadeiras e nematoides. São
apresentados seus ciclos biológicos, os danos causados e os métodos de controle
disponíveis, com ênfase no Manejo Integrado de Pragas (MIP) e no uso de controle
biológico como estratégias sustentáveis. O estudo reforça a importância da adoção
de práticas agrícolas fundamentadas em conhecimento técnico e manejo eficiente,
visando à redução de perdas econômicas e à preservação ambiental.
This paper aims to identify, understand, and present control methods for the main pests and diseases affecting sugarcane crops. Due to its economic and energy relevance in Brazil, sugarcane is subject to various biological agents that significantly impact its productivity and quality. The study analyzes pests such as the sugarcane borer, root spittlebug, giant borer, weevil, rhizome borer, leaf-cutting ants, and rootknot nematodes. It explores their biological cycles, the damage they cause, and key control strategies, highlighting the importance of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and biological control as sustainable alternatives. The study concludes that the successful cultivation of sugarcane depends on technical knowledge, innovation, and environmentally responsible practices.
