Abstract

Atualmente existem vários modelos de computadores pessoais e diversos Sistemas Operacionais para esses computadores. Cada Sistema Operacional possui diferentes características, que os tornam úteis para os seus usuários. O Sistema Operacional é o software principal de qualquer modelo de computador por deter o controle total da máquina. Esse trabalho de graduação abrange vários aspectos sobre o Sistema Operacional Linux, iniciando com uma introdução sobre o fenômeno Linux, em seqüência vem a História, a evolução, um comentário sobre as principais distribuições, sobre os serviços mais importantes, as ferramentas de gerenciamento, não podendo deixar de citar as interfaces gráficas e uma visão sobre o mercado e o futuro do Linux.Nowadays several models of personal computers and several operating system exist for these computers. Each operating system possesses different characteristics, that turn them useful for your users. The operating system is the main software of any computer model for stopping the total control of the machine. This graduation work covers several aspects about the operating system Linux, starting with na commentary about the main distributions, about the most important services, the conduction tools, could not let quoting the graphic interfaces and the vision about the market and the future of Linux.
